A tabby cat sits on the pavement beside a bicycle leaning against a sunlit wall. The Cat and the Bike is an oil on canvas by Alexey Slusar from 2024, upright at 70 by 50 centimetres.

The wall behind has shuttered windows and is striped with strong light and shadow, while the bike rests on its stand with a bag clipped to the back rack. The cat looks straight out at us from a patch of sun. Slusar keeps the handling sketchy and the light high-contrast, which gives the corner a relaxed, everyday feel.
