A bald man in a grey smock rides on the back of a large tan rooster across a green field, both of them leaning into the wind. He stretches his arms out wide and holds a long feather in each hand, like a man learning to fly. The sky behind is a smear of soft greenish gold with a thin blue horizon below. Made in encaustic on canvas, the pigment fused into wax gives the surface its waxy, scratched-into texture, with fine hatching all over. Roman Zuzuk painted Dream of Flight in 2012, 48 by 37 centimetres.
