About the artwork

A wide summer landscape given over almost entirely to flowers and sky. The foreground is a dense field of blue cornflowers shot through with white daisies, painted thick with a palette knife so the petals stand up off the canvas. Beyond the field the land flattens into green meadows and low wooded hills, with a small cluster of buildings near the horizon. Above it all, a big breezy sky carries fat white cumulus clouds. Mikora signs this off as oil on canvas, large at 175 by 80 centimetres, and the impasto gives the near flowers real weight against the airy distance.
