A sunlit cottage doorway almost swallowed by a garden in full bloom. A pale blue panelled door with small glazed windows stands in the middle, its frame draped in climbing roses and trailing greenery, with banks of white and red flowers crowding up on either side and a terracotta pot set on the step. The light comes in warm and dappled, catching the wall and scattering through the leaves. Slutsker works the whole thing with a loaded brush and palette knife, the flowers little flecks of pink, red and white against the green. Oil on canvas, nearly square at 100 by 95 centimetres, painted in 2023.
