About the work

Two long figures stretched out as if diving or swimming across a pale, cracked ground, one in rusty red, the other in black. Their bodies are simplified into lean, reaching silhouettes, arms thrown forward, so they read more as movement than as portraits. Alexandrov uses aquatint and etching here, the crackled white background printed like dry, broken earth. Horizontal, 29.5 by 20.8 centimetres. Numbered 1/20 and signed Alexandrov 2020.
