About the artwork

A small horizontal intaglio in grey-aubergine, abstract at first glance. The mottled, granular ground is broken by pale white contours that gather into a reclining nude, an arm and bent leg, the line of a back. It reads more as suggestion than outline, the figure surfacing out of the texture. Pencil-signed Akt by Gennadij Alexandrov, numbered 4/100 and dated 2003. About 9.8 by 16.5 cm.
