Almost the whole canvas is white, worked in thick, scraped impasto, with just a figure in a brown coat striding across it and a small dark shape ahead on the ground that reads as a little dog on a lead. Both are dissolved into the snow-bright field, the edges scratched and smeared so the scene barely holds together.
Shulman lets the white carry the picture, the two warm-brown forms the only thing to fix on. Walk with Chloe is oil on canvas from 2025, a square 60 by 60 centimetres, abstract and wintry.
