A boy in a pale jacket walks up a grassy slope, seen from behind, his head turned slightly. The whole canvas is sepia, warm browns and creams, the tall dry grass lit so it almost glows while a band of darker scrub and shadow runs across the top.

Shulman paints the grass in loose, slashing strokes and keeps the figure simple, the back of the jacket catching the strongest light. Walk on the hills is oil on canvas from 2017, upright at 60 by 75 centimetres.
