Vodičkova Street after rain, painted by Michael Slutsker in oil on canvas in 2025. The eye-catcher is the curling Art-Nouveau iron canopy on the left, sweeping out over the pavement in front of a row of dark shopfronts. A red and cream tram stands further down the wet street, and a figure walks ahead beside a small child or dog, both reflected in the shining cobbles.
Tall ornate buildings line the right side, one corner crowned with a little turret, and the autumn light is warm and low. Slutsker handles the whole thing in loose, lively oil, thick highlights catching on the wet stone and the iron scrollwork. At 75 by 60 centimetres it has the feel of a real afternoon in the city centre rather than a set piece.
