An elderly violinist, white-haired and wearing small round glasses, holds his instrument up to his chin in this oil on canvas. The bow is drawn back in his right hand, his fingers loose on it, and a music stand or page glows faintly in the lower right corner. His face is lit warmly against a dark, brushy background, the expression somewhere between concentration and ease. Slutsker keeps the handling broad and confident, the violin's amber body the warmest note in the picture. Upright, 40 by 60 centimetres, dated 2025.
