About the work

A portrait of a woman, Valeria Zavadská, turned slightly towards us with a faint, knowing smile. Her short dark hair is brushed back, the eyes large and direct, and a coat collar comes up around her neck. Alexandrov draws the whole head in a fine web of etched lines, with aquatint laying a soft grey tone behind her. Signed, titled, numbered 9/50 and dated 2025. An upright plate of about 14.6 by 20.8 centimetres.
