Winter has settled over this narrow Malá Strana lane in Slutsker's upright oil on canvas from 2023. Snow caps the roofs and ledges and lies in patches along a wet, curving cobbled street that catches a pale wash of reflection. On the right a tall ochre building rises to an elaborate baroque gable, and behind the rooftops, half lost in the cold haze, a green church dome and a slender tower stand against a heavy grey sky.

A single old car comes down the lane, headlamps lit, with a figure or two on foot nearby, and an iron street lamp anchors each side of the foreground. Slutsker builds the scene in thick, scraped paint, the warm yellows of the lit walls playing off the blue-grey of the snow and shadow. At 50 by 70 centimetres it is an intimate, slightly melancholy corner of the city in the cold.
