A small white dress, sleeveless with a tiered, ruffled skirt, hangs from a wooden hanger against a grey wall. Shulman builds the cloth in thick, dragged white impasto over the grey, so it has real surface and weight, and casts a soft shadow to one side. A single thin red line runs horizontally across the wall behind it.
That one red mark is the only colour in an otherwise grey-and-white picture, the third in the artist's Thin red line series. Thin red line. 3 is oil on canvas from 2024, a square 70 by 70 centimetres.
