About the artwork

The Jorney Home is built almost entirely from blues and violets. A single tree with a dense pink crown stands on a small island at the centre, and across the foreground five children cross a still, reflective expanse of water, each carrying a long fishing rod. Four walk upright in a row from left to centre, while the smallest, a girl, crouches at the right to look at something on the surface. Their reflections run down into the water and one boy swings a small pail. Dima Dmitriev painted it in oil in 2022, a wide canvas at 190 by 100 centimetres.
