Tailor is a close, affectionate portrait of an old craftsman at his work. He bends over a black Singer sewing machine, its gold lettering catching the light, with a length of blue and green striped cloth running under his hands. White hair, a full white beard, a flat cap and small round glasses, and a face entirely absorbed in the seam. Slutsker paints him in thick, gestural oil, the brushwork loosest in the beard and the folds of fabric, warm browns and ochres setting off the cool blue of the cloth. It is an oil on canvas, 60 by 45 centimetres, dated 2025.
