Two people lean close over a small cafe table in the evening, heads almost touching, two tall drinks between them. Summer Evening in Town is an oil on canvas from 2020, a wide canvas at 85 by 120 centimetres.
The man, in a red shirt and dark glasses, faces the woman, whose bare shoulders and pulled-back hair catch the warm light. An empty chair sits in the dark foreground, its back cutting across the lower part of the scene. Behind them a rough stone wall and a doorway fall into deep shadow, so the couple and their table glow out of the dark. Slusar lets most of the canvas go to that warm pool of light against the surrounding gloom.
