A pair of dark high-heeled shoes stands close together, one of them showing a pale ankle strap, the rest sinking into deep wine-red and brown shadow. Shulman blurs almost everything, the edges soft, the background a smoky grey-green, so the shoes feel less like objects than like something half-remembered.
