Serenade has a man in a dark suit playing a small red guitar to a large blue fish, which rears up on red feet with a red comb and an open beak as if singing along. A white rooster stands off to the left, and behind them a town of red-roofed houses sits in a golden field with a couple of green trees. Roman Zuzuk made this in encaustic on canvas in 2010, upright at 40 by 50 centimetres, the wax giving the field its dry, grainy warmth.
