About the work

A coastal view in oil on canvas, with a green-blue sea taking up most of the canvas. A wave breaks across the foreground, its crest churned into thick white foam laid on heavily with the knife, while the water behind shifts from jade to soft turquoise. On the left a low headland reaches into the bay, with a few white houses and dark trees on it. The sky is busy with grey and cream cloud. Mikora keeps the colour fresh and silvery, an early-autumn day by the Mediterranean rather than high summer.
