Despite its title, Sense of Peace is full of small busy movement: a long line of children in dark tunics walks along a pale beach, most of them carrying fishing rods over their shoulders, a couple swinging tin pails. They tread on bare wet sand that throws blue shadows back towards a band of deep blue sea along the top. The figures step in a loose procession from left to right, fair-haired and barefoot. Dima Dmitriev painted it in oil in 2022, a broad canvas at 190 by 100 centimetres.
