A woman carries a whole town on her head. In Own dream Roman Zuzuk balances a green tray of tall stone buildings, with two little red shrubs, on the head of a calm woman in a lilac dress. Around her on the brown ground, small figures go about with their own loads: one shoulders a dark cypress, another carries a single red tulip, a third hauls a leaning tower.

It is an encaustic on canvas from 2010, square at 53 by 53 centimetres. The hot-wax surface gives a soft, slightly waxy bloom to the pale blue sky and the woman's bare shoulders, and the picture has the matter-of-fact strangeness of an actual dream.
