He looks slightly down and away, thoughtful, and his hands rest one over the other on what appear to be a couple of books at the bottom edge of the canvas. Slutsker models the face and hands in loose, loaded brushwork, warm ochres and creams against the shadow, with the cap and background left dark and quiet. Signed lower left, an oil on canvas from 2017, 40 by 50 centimetres.
