Melantrichova Street is a narrow Prague lane painted just after rain, and the wet stones do most of the work. Alexey Slusar made it in oil on canvas in 2025, a tall, slim canvas at 95 by 45 centimetres that suits the squeeze of the street.

The view runs down the lane towards a Gothic tower with a dark spire and a clock, set against a pale sky. On the left a wall of pale stone arches catches the warm light, with an iron lantern bracketed out over the pavement; the right side falls into cooler grey buildings. A single small figure under a red umbrella stands far down the wet lane.

The whole foreground is given to reflections, the ochres and greys of the houses pulled down into the shining cobbles. It is an ordinary, slightly grey moment in the old town rather than a bright postcard, and that is what makes it feel real.
