A cluster of tall flowering plants fills the canvas, slim stalks rising into spiky, bud-laden tops, the long serrated leaves painted in soft greens and browns. Shulman works them against a pale, washed background so the whole thing has a faded, herbarium quality. The words last day of life run across the middle in thin red letters, which turns the leggy, going-to-seed plants into something closer to a meditation. Oil on canvas, 2024, 90 by 100 centimetres.
