About the artwork

Franz Kafka's face appears at the front of a narrow night-time lane, where small huddled houses lean together under a single lit street lamp. Gennadij Alexandrov cuts the whole scene in dense white lines on black, the buildings of Golden Lane crowding behind the portrait. The plate is printed within an arched top edge. Signed in pencil and dated 2000.
