About the work

A bold black-and-white woodcut of Franz Kafka, his face filling the sheet. Gennadij Alexandrov layers a second image over the brow and cheek: the domes and rooftops of Prague, almost like a memory printed onto the skin. Everything is cut in vigorous white lines on black. Titled Kafka in pencil, numbered 70 from an edition of 500, dated 2024.
