A near-square oil on canvas where a man in a yellow shirt sits at centre playing a blue accordion. Spiral red flowers seem to grow straight out of his shirt, and a second smaller figure in purple drapes herself over his shoulder and head, peering down at him cheek to cheek. The background is a plain warm wash of grey above and tan below, leaving the two figures to carry everything. Joys of Life is dated 2002, 50 by 60 centimetres. Roman Zuzuk keeps the palette soft and the drawing tender, an affectionate little double portrait around the music.
