About the work

A tiny etching that reworks Vermeer's famous head, with one update for our times: the girl now wears a surgical face mask. Gennadij Alexandrov builds her entirely from fine grey stippling, the turban and a single pearl earring catching the light against a dark ground. Signed in pencil and dated 2025. About 7 by 10 centimetres.
