An old wooden chair holds a tall, untidy stack of folded newspapers on its seat, and three little grey mice have made themselves at home on it. One scampers along the top of the chair back, another peers out between the back rails, and a third sits on the seat beside the papers. Shulman paints the whole thing in warm browns against a soft bluish ground, with the printed pages just legible. A quiet, slightly melancholy bit of humour. Oil on canvas, 2022, 50 by 70 centimetres.
