About the artwork

A view along Charles Bridge in autumn, with a horse-drawn carriage coming towards us over the wet paving. On the left a tall statue rises on its plinth above the parapet, with golden-leaved trees behind it, and ahead the bridge tower and the spires of the Castle district close off the view through a soft grey haze. Lamps along the bridge throw warm reflections down onto the slick stone. Slutsker keeps the palette mostly cool and silvery, with the autumn foliage and the carriage horses giving the warmth. Oil on canvas, 75 by 60 centimetres, painted in 2025.
