Slutsker paints the Bridge of the Legions on a wet autumn day, with the two domed sentry pavilions standing on either side of the roadway like a gateway. A single red and cream tram crosses the bridge, and a few small figures hurry along with umbrellas through the rain. The cobbles in the foreground are soaked and reflective, and the whole surface is laced with overhead tram wires.

Across the river on the right you can pick out the silhouette of Prague Castle and the cathedral on the hill, with autumn trees in rust and gold lining the far bank. The sky is heavy and grey and the light is low. It is a wide oil on canvas, 115 by 65 centimetres, from 2025, and the long format lets the bridge run right across the picture. Quiet, damp and unmistakably Prague in late autumn.
