Across on the right is a grand ornate building topped with bronze figures and a charioteer, the kind of theatre architecture the city is known for. A boxy older car comes down the middle of the road, a single tram waits further up, and a pair of figures in orange cross the foreground under a white umbrella.

The sky is a flat pale grey, strung across with a web of tram wires. Slutsker works the puddles and the slick paving hard, and the reflections are really what carry the picture. This is an oil on canvas, upright at 75 by 90 centimetres, painted in 2025. It catches an ordinary grey morning rather than a postcard, all damp stone and muted colour.
