We see only a woman's legs, cropped at the hem of a short dark skirt, standing right where a pale floor meets a deep purple shadow. Her feet are in dark shoes, and her own long shadow stretches out across the line into the dark. Shulman scratches and drags the paint so the surface looks scuffed and weathered, and the title makes the literal boundary, between light and dark, here and there, the real subject. Oil on canvas from 2023, a 70 by 70 centimetre square.
