About the work

A small etching that puts Botticelli's Venus in a surgical face mask. The familiar head with its long copper waves and tilted gaze is there, but the lower face is covered, a wry image of beauty in the time of a pandemic. Hand-coloured in soft blue, ochre and cream over fine stippled line. Tiny, only about 7 by 10 centimetres, from 2024, signed in pencil.
