A nude woman lies on her side, knees drawn up, her back and hip lit in warm orange while her head and the bunched fabric beneath her sink into deep shadow. The whole canvas is given over to red, from the dark crimson of the wall behind to the bright vermilion of the floor, so the figure reads almost as a single glowing form.
