About the artwork

A broad-faced man plays a blue accordion in the open, his bellows fanned out across the middle of the picture. A slender woman in a white dress leans in towards him from the left, her red hair streaming sideways, and balanced on the man's head, as if it were the most ordinary perch in the world, stands a small brown goat. The ground is warm ochre, the band of hills behind them runs from purple into dusty rose. Roman Zuzuk painted Accordionist in oil on canvas in 2007, 50 by 55 centimetres. The naive drawing and the folk-tale logic, where a goat can simply ride a musician's head, are very much his.
